F.A.Q. Horseback Riding in The Temecula Wine Country

Please reach out to Maria@crctemecula.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

CRC Trails by Horseback is located on the corner of De Portola Road and Anza Road at The CRC Ranch.  Parking is available on the corner, do not drive into The CRC.

Yes. 250 lbs. is the limit.  We will verify on site at our own discretion. We try to be very flexible and customize each ride to suit your needs! We inquire about rider weights upon scheduling booking, and reserve the right to refuse any rider for horse availability, saddle fit availability, or staff perceived inaccuracies on the ride’s date. Rider and horse safety is at our top priority, and while we have a variety of horse and saddle sizes, we cannot always accommodate every circumstance. Please have discretion and inquire when booking if you are uncertain.

Once again, we prioritize the safety of our guests, our staff, and our horses. Certain ages, disabilities, health concerns, etc. can be quite dangerous on a horse, and if we are going to need additional help/ a more hands-on ride experience, we DO need to know well in advance. If you have had a recent surgery, have a chronic physical ailment, or are impaired in a manner that would affect your comfort and control of a horse, that is something that we need to know BEFORE your ride for your safety and the safety of our staff and horses. We will do our best to accommodate specific circumstances, but we need to be aware of anything that may physically affect your ability to complete your ride, and reserve the right to deny a rider the full-length or entirety of a ride who has not disclosed this. We know aches and pains happen and horseback riding uses a different set of muscles than most, but please use discretion to keep your health and the safety of the entire crew as top priority. We are a customizable operation, but please let us know upon booking if there are concerns that may affect an individual’s ability to ride a horse.

Rides can be tailored to “pick up the pace” at the discretion of the wrangler. Please note that the wrangler will only allow more advanced riders to move to a trot or a lope to ensure horse and rider safety. Multiple groups may also be on a single ride, which can affect the pace as well.

Due to the unique nature of our operations, we carefully select and transport the horses needed for each day’s ride in advance. As a result, we are unable to accommodate last-minute requests for additional riders. Please note that cancellations or no-shows will still be charged, as the horses are prepared and ready for your scheduled time. We understand that horseback riding may not be for everyone, but if you choose not to ride at the last minute, full payment is still required. This applies even if you are unable to attend on the day of your booking.

All deposits are non-refundable, without exception. However, you may have the option to apply your deposit or payment toward a future ride at CRC Trails by Horseback.  Please select your ride carefully.

No! We have horses available for all skill levels to help everyone from the first-time timid rider to advanced lifelong equestrians!

No, we do not authorize any doubles riding.

We monitor the local weather very closely and frequently, and will let you know by 8am the morning of your ride if it is too hot or stormy for your ride to occur.

We accept ALL major credit cards/ debit cards and cash.

All deposits are non-refundable, without exception. However, you may have the option to apply your deposit or payment toward a future ride at CRC Trails by Horseback.  Please select your ride carefully.

FOR ALL TRAIL RIDES

  • Dress code: Long pants & closed toed shoes
  • Helmets are provided and required for minors and encouraged but optional for adults
(must be an equestrian certified helmet if you choose to bring your own)

  • If you choose not to wear a helmet, we recommend sunglasses and a hat for sun protection, but only snug fitting hats are permitted (we recommend ball-caps). Loose ‘fashion’ or sun hats will quickly blow off in the breeze and can be a hazard to the horses and other riders.

  • Saddle pouches for phone, keys, camera, etc. are provided to each rider, but please avoid backpacks and purses as we don’t want to distract you or the horses on the ride! We provide a cold bottle of water in your saddle pouch for you on your ride, and have sunscreen and hand sanitizer available to you before your ride departs.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your ride time to ensure the full ride time. If you arrive late, your ride is not guaranteed.  If you are running late or get lost, please call the number on our website or use the live chat feature to connect with a CRC team member.  While this still does not guarantee your ride, we can occasionally make special arrangements in such cases.

  • Our guides reserve the right to shorten or stop rides to ensure the safety and well-being of all riders, especially when there are novice participants. Our guides, who are highly trained and experienced, may opt to exercise caution at any time as they are not familiar with every rider's ability.  We trust their expertise in anticipating and preventing potential accidents.

  • We do have a flexible age, ability, and weight limit, but please inquire about specific needs when booking.  Please read our weight restriction policy located in the F.A.Q. section carefully.  The more information we have beforehand, the easier it will be to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
